Weird to talk about marriage and children when first meeting?

It seems like our society is not interested in marriage at all, we have both men and women waiting to walk down the aisle until their late 30's. With that said what is your interpretation of 20 year olds who discussed living together, marriage, and children when they first meet ? Extremely romantic, down right lame or something else?Weird to talk about marriage and children when first meeting?
No way. If you know what you want why should you beat around the bush... People have sex on the first date and that seems totally normal to most of our society. Why should marriage and kid talk be weird? There should be more talking and less physical activity on the first date.Weird to talk about marriage and children when first meeting?
Men who are pushy and have a poor sense of the appropriate have a tendancy to turn out to be controllers. So, something else. A little scary.

We have conventions in our society for a reason. It's not romantic to rush into marriage. It's sad and shows a lack of judgment.

I taught my daughters to wait. Get an education, travel, achieve professionally and wait. Have something to offer when you marry. Don't do it out of desperation because that's all that's available to you.

My 26 yo is waiting. That shows judgment.
I think it means that you are very attracted to each other, but realize that it is important to know how each other feels about the important issues. The more you can talk about and get a feel for what the other person really expects from a life commitment, the better you will deal with what happens.

If you want 6 kids and he is anti children, then it won't work!
i dont care how old someone is, if you talk about marriage on the first date...even second its very odd and makes you look desperate lol. I find it wonderful that woman now dont feel like they need a man to take care of them and can live there own life first before they marry later in life...nothing wrong with it. I think alot of women back in the day were raised to believe the man supports the wife, while the wife stays home and takes care of the home. well thats silly, marriage is equal and men and woman share responsibilities. women dont need a man to take care of then just like men dont need a woman to clean up after them.
I like that idea... i wish more ppl would do that. When i first meet a guy, these concens come into my mind first and they stay there until they're discussed. But they're usually not discussed until much later. You're right that it's considered weird and not normal. The person that brings it up is seen as being psycho or over eager, desperate, etc. So to not make ourselves seem this way, we wait to discuss it. But imo, it's a huge waste of time.
20 year olds have no business be married and having children... you aren't mature enough and aren't even old enough to be finished with college...
Depends

Was it a heavy conversation or chit chat?

A little lame maybe, but some people want to do things right from the start
WEIRD? PSHYCO is more like the word! RUN!
No ,these things are important to know!

What other reasons besides religion would someone stay a virgin until marriage?

It's just something that I have been wondering for a while. I understand the religion thing because i believe in waiting, but i also want to know other reasons. What other reasons besides religion would someone stay a virgin until marriage?

  • What part of becoming a new parent was hardest on your marriage?

Babies are bundles of joy, but their arrival changes everything completely. When you became a first time parent, what caused the biggest problem in your relationship with your spouse? Could be little, might be big. What part of becoming a new parent was hardest on your marriage?
My hormones, possessiveness of the baby, and lack of sleep. His lack of understanding, uselessness in taking care of the baby, his total lack of help. He felt if I was taking the year off then the baby was my job. So every late night feeding was mine etc. We worked it all out. I feel it made us a stronger couple. Im more prepared for it this time. What part of becoming a new parent was hardest on your marriage?
The hardest part for us was my not properly communicating what I needed from him. Our firstborn was colicky and caring for her was more trying that I, we, had anticipated. It took a while to realize he could not walk in the house and magically know that I needed a break, or a shower, or for him to do a certain household task to help out. I needed to verbalize my needs and once that hurdle was jumped we became stronger as a parenting team. Also, learning how to adapt to a new budget was a bit straining as well. Going from two incomes to one took some balance and a lot of sacrifice.
My wife's philosophy was that if I wasn't at work, then I was the primary care giver for our child. On weekday evenings and weekends, I would be responsible for cooking meals, doing the chores, and taking care of our daughter while my wife ';took a break'; and played video games. When I approached her about this, asking when I would get some time to engage in some hobbies or spend time together, she said that my free time occurs while I'm at work (which of course, doesn't make sense since I'm working at work). Basically, when my child was born, I went from being a family of a husband and wife to a family of a single parent with two kids. It was horrible.

For those wondering, I pressed the issue about my stress level and needing a weekend to relax so my wife threw me out. I divorced her and took custody of our child since she had no intention of taking care of herself, let alone being a mother to our child or a partner and companion with me.
My husband鈥檚 lack of understanding what I was going through.

I breastfed and sometimes I鈥檇 just cry. I did NOT have post partum depression but because someone put a bug in my husband鈥檚 ear about it, he swore each time I cried it was because of it. He thought I hated breastfeeding. When in reality, my nipples hurt so bad from nonstop feedings, my boobs hurt so bad because I鈥檓 a new Mommy, and milk couldn鈥檛 come in fast enough with increased feedings.

He was an amazing new Daddy with changing diapers and bath time and feedings (when he could). But that one lack of understanding just really made it so hard for me to adapt. Because it鈥檚 not something you can explain to the opposite sex.

But in the end, he really is a kick *** Daddy!
Lack of sleep made us both a little irritable, and our sex life suffered a little. That was bad, because that is our way to reconnect when we are driving eachother crazy. It was a little hard, but I wouldnt call it marital problems. At the same time, him being the father of my children has only deepened my respect for him. I see a whole new side of him that I can love.

How do we report marriage to the military?

My daughter married her sailor 18 days ago. He had to report to his ship before their marriage license came in so she was not able to get her military ID and the Navy has no copy of their license. How do we get this info to them? How do we report marriage to the military?
She will need a power of attorney from him. He should be able to do this, even aboard ship. He'll have to go to the JAG on the ship and ask to have one drawn up, then fax it to you/her or directly to the Personnel office on base/station.

Once she/they have that, she'll still need to take the marriage certificate with her, as well as other forms of ID (such as driver's license, SS card) that should be all she needs to get a valid military ID. I'd call the nearest base (doesn't have to be Navy) and ask the question. Click below for website with locations, then just google for base name and phone numbers. If nothing else, you can start with base operator and go from there!

You might have to get signed onto base. She or he should contact his unit there and someone should be able/willing to coordinate that. Military usually takes good care of each other, as long as they know there's a problem/issue to deal with.

I hope your daughter knows what she signed on for... Good luck!!!How do we report marriage to the military?
To get a military id I do believe the sponser (her husband) has a form he needs to get. He is the only one who can get it. This is something he should of taken care of before he left. Call his commanding officer if its that important and can't wait till he gets back. He is likely to get in a little trouble for not taken care of it before he left. So I would only do it if its a must do. How long will he be gone for?

My hubby sent me the wrong paper when he went to basic. I had to wait to get my id card till I got the right paper from him. I had to be sponsered onto the base (by someone on base) to have things taken care of. It was a mess.
she may need a power of attorney from him she can then take the power of attorney, marriage license, photo id to the proper office on the base.
we went through this organization called dears or deers but anyway it was on the post where he was stationed you can get on with a day pass from the visitors center...make sure you bring the actual licensce

What do you do when your parents dont aprrove of interracial marriage/or dating?

Okay so im white and my boyfriend is black. We've been dating for a few months and its kinds getting a little serious. My mom is ok with that but my dad isn't.He always talks crap and tries to bring me down because he don't like it.What should I do?What do you do when your parents dont aprrove of interracial marriage/or dating?
Have you asked your dad EXACTLY what he objects to?

If the only reason is the colour of your boyfriends skin, then I would tell him that the 21st Century has no room for racist bigots and if he continues like this he is going to end up a very lonely old man, rather than someone who gets to enjoy time with his family and grandchildren.

However, it could be more than that. As a dad, he probably just wants to protect you.

As a dad myself, I've sometimes wondered how I would be if say my son turned out to be gay. I would want him to be happy whatever he chooses to do in his life, but there is a part of me that would be sad and worried for him - NOT because he was gay, but because of all the bigotry and prejudice he would face from others. Like I say, that's just the protective side coming out.

I would never want to do anything to drive my children away, and if I did, then I'm sure a calm statement of fact from one of them would give me the wake-up call I needed. What do you do when your parents dont aprrove of interracial marriage/or dating?
My parents are both white and they divorced three years ago,

My mom is married to a black guy and my dad married a French woman.

I have no problem with it, although it is a little different because no one else in my family is married to someone of another race. I do not have a problem with it though

The thing is though, my mom lives in Georgia and when we all go out for dinner (like 10 of us) we do get stares and you can see people whispering....but that's just the South for you.

Your dad will eventually get over it, especially when he gets to know your boyfriend. It's just different for him, not something he expected!!
Ignore him? He isn't dating him after all, so why would his disapproval make a difference? It dose not sound like it has made a difference in the past if you two are still together, right?
As long as you are living in your parents' home, you don't have much say in the matter. Your life will start when you can move out on your own. my best to you
haha im black and french coinkidink

How does a Muslim marriage fit with the Christian religion?

just wanted to know if anyone knows, what it would mean for a christian to have a muslim marriage, i know how a muslim marriage works, but i just wanna know if it is a sin? i see it this way...it means being married in front of God, and this is what matters. How does a Muslim marriage fit with the Christian religion?
In Islam, the marriage of a man and a woman is not just a financial and physical arrangement of living together but a sacred contract, a gift of Allah, to lead a happy, enjoyable life and continue the lineage. The main goal of marriage in Islam is the realization of tranquility and compassion between the spouses.

http://www.islamonline.net/servlet/Satel鈥?/a>How does a Muslim marriage fit with the Christian religion?
Until now, Islam is seem not attamp to verified wedding from 2 different religions,

the solution is in the hands of Chistian/Catholic. They have to maarry with the Christian way without compromising the confidence one person.
well as a Christian you KNOW Jesus CHrist is your Saviour -- the ONLY BEGOTTEN Son of God. as a Muslim you renounce CHrist as ';nothing more than a phrophet';.

i do not see how the two can walk hand in hand in marriage.
I'm Christian and my wife is Buddhist.

The marriage is going on 39 years and will never end.

The person that you marry is the key, not the mechanics.

A Muslim marriage will not fit with a Christian marriage.
    It doesn't .

Muslims (and Islam) say Jesus was a prophet but they reject all His teachings ....that is hypocrisy.

    They reject Christ's diety;

    they deny his claim to be the Son of God;

they deny his death on the cross...

    they deny His resurrection..

They deny Jesus is the Christ/ Messiah...

In fact, the Quran says : ';Allah has no son';.

    Need I say more...?

Don't be deceived. The Islamic god is totally different than the God of Jesus Christ.

  • How often does a marriage survive infidelity?

When all the available resources are used i.e. counseling, how many times out of ten does the trust return and the marriage heal? How often does a marriage survive infidelity?
I don't think the trust would ever fully return.

The question is if you are able to live with someone you can never fully trust. How often does a marriage survive infidelity?
I saw recently a study that most who use all the resources that the marriage has a 74% chance of survival. The person who was cheated on must be willing to forgive and that's where the real problem lies.

The marriage has a good shot if the person who cheated remains monogomous ever after and the person who was cheated on will agree I(at some point) to truly forgive and try again.
Not often, it all depends on if that person can handle it. I know from experience because I cheated on my wife and she cheated on me. With me I did mines bout 4 or 5 yrs ago so it took her a while, but with her she did it bout last yr and I am just getting over it. It is hard to trust somebody who cheated on you but if you can handle it by all means stay in and work on your marriage but if not then just leave.
It's hard to state any type of statistic. The thing about trust is that it can be regained. You can trust the person again but that takes hoenstly at all times on both parts to make sure the issue does not keep repeating itself over and over again. It depends on how willing both people are to seeing it through. For instance if the wife cheated, her husband has to be willing to find a way to forgive and restore trust over time. The wife needs to communicate where she is and be there as well as be back when she says she will. She will basically need to be totally upfront about all plans for a while to have the trust back. Either way it's a long road full that will be hard...
its up to u, and how much remorse he shows. it also has allot to do with ones belief system, and how badly u were hurt by the cheating. the one who cheated would have to be the one to regain the trust that was lost. depends on how strong your faith is, depends if the marriage was a good one up until now, or if it wasn't. if it wasn't i wouldn't try. i would try christian counseling first. your spouses willingness to communicate and acknowledge what they did helps allot.
1 out of ten may make it, the rest will divorce sooner or later.

If someone has to ';work'; on a marriage and ';work'; on trusting the other person, you're with the wrong partner.

Marriage is all about loyalty (if you can't trust your spouse, who can you trust?) and compromise, both should come easy and if it doesn't move on. Life is too short.
It is highly possible, but not only is it something he has to work on, but you as well. The problem with being attached to a cheater is that you will harbor anger and resentment. Learning to forgive is hard work. I don't necessarily believe in the motto ';Once a cheater always a cheater'; but sometimes you just have to raise your white flag and admit defeat.
Not often. And what do you mean by survive? I mean think about it. Yes, some people stay together through infidelity and after. But from what I have seen, they are not happy. They may 'survive', but at what cost? Do they really heal? I don't think so. How do you really ever trust your spouse again after such a huge betrayal?
I'd say it would have everything to do with the situation surrounding the infidelity. If it was a one-time mistake, and the relationship is otherwise sound, there's probably some hope.
I think it ultimately comes down to whether or not the person who was cheated on can get past it. If they can truly forgive, then there is a chance. If it weighs on their mind constantly, then there is little hope.

    Good luck to you.
    50% according to the studies.
    The trust never returns.
very slim chance. but lots of hard work on both parties.

    good luck
zero, in your case. sorry hun, he does not sound level headed. we spoke before.

Does a wife always work harder than the husband in a marriage?

I'm doing a debate at school and the statement is:

    ';The wife always works harder than her husband.';

I have to argue against this statement, so are there any points to show that the husbands do more or equally as much work?

Thanks!Does a wife always work harder than the husband in a marriage?
No. In my family yes, she works harder. In my brothers, he does. He works a very demanding job, plus, he does at least half the housework, if not more.

I try, I just can't keep up. She's a whirlwind.Does a wife always work harder than the husband in a marriage?
I did always work harder I thought. Seems like my husband rarely ever tried...

But there are some husbands who do dote on their wives; they are out there. And there is a saying that I've heard that men are completely oblivious to any relationship issues until she's ready to walk out the door. That could be what inspires some men to go to action to fight for their wives. Think of the men who begrudgingly go to a counselor and work jobs. Also some men are workaholics and some even help their wives around the house even when the wives are housewives. I've also heard it said that for a woman to be more attracted to her husband, he can help her around the house. To me if a man continues to actively pursue his wife instead of relaxing or looking for some other person to score, then he is working relationally harder than her. And if he works more hours than her or works a manually more difficult job to take care of and support her, that is also contributing to the family and marriage, especially since some marriages can tend to fail when the couple are financially struggling.
It will always be opinion, there are no statistics to validate the statement on either side. Also what is the Definition of ';work';. Work as in a job, work as in ';in the home'; or work as in keeping the marriage together.

Remember the old adage ';a man can work from dawn to dusk, but a woman's work is never done';, so take your pick.

If I had to offer an ';opinion'; as a man I would say generally the woman works harder in a marriage.
The statement itself is faulty, in that it doesn't give enough information.

Yes, I think in general that women work harder than men, but that's a generalization and there will always be unions where the wife is a lazy @ss.

I'm not sure how you're going to argue it. If a man and woman both work outside the home and have kids, you can bet that in the majority of cases, she also does the majority of the cooking, cleaning and child-rearing. Not to take away from the devoted husbands and fathers out there, but this has been studied from a number of different angles and women always seem to put in more hours than men.

    Good luck
The answer is NO. The wife does not ALWAYS work harder in a marriage. Somedays she will and some days she won't. Any marital partner will work harder on a given task that means more to them. For instance. Maybe some women have a lower tolerance for household clutter. Those women will spend more time working to correct the problem. Some men are obsessed with the care and cleanliness of a vehicle and will, therefore spend more time in that area. Gender stereotypes aside,,,,,, the yardwork/gardening could be viewed as a hobby or stress relieving activity. Then again so could cleaning the house or changing the oil in the cars. We would have to define the nature of the ';work'; involved and then determine who views each task as beneficial. I mean.......is it really ';work'; if it helps keep you from strangling the crap out of a whining, complaining partner? Isn't it more like ';therapy';? But the bottom line remains. Women need more therapy than men. Hope that helps.
It depends on the situation. If the wife works, takes care of the house, meals, and kids, then I would say yes. Lots of men believe that it is the woman's job to take care of the house but today's day and age a lot of women are pulling there fair share at the office.
    i hate stereotypical statements

it jsut doesnt make sense to group all guys and all girls into one category as guys are lazy and girls are hard workers.

there are hardworking guys and girls

there are lazy guys and girls

we both work as hard as we can in my marriage, and thats the way i enjoy it.
you could call it different areas: (when dinosaurs roamed the earth) the man works hard at the getting money in the bank part; the woman works hard at keeping the kids alive. Then say that only monetarily compensated (non-slave;) work counts;)

    i'm joking
Well they should. After all, its usually the woman who pushes, deceives, and tricks the man into marriage. Men don't dream of weddings, that's a woman thing. So since they want it so much, they should work for it.
I think the husband works harder in his job. But I think the wife works harder at home. So it's kind of even.
The man will do less if less is expected of him. My hubby thought he could get by with it, I put a stop to it quickly! He does just as much as I do!

What does dreaming of marriage mean if everything is perfect?

I dreamed that I was getting married to my fiancee'. Everything in the service was beautiful and how it should be. Our daughter was older and everything. Nothing was wrong with the service. The only strange thing was my father whom I am very close with who is deceased was there. There were no tensions between us or anything.

I have heard that dreaming of marriage means a death? But what type of death? One inside my immediate, one that I knew about, or one that will come soon? What does dreaming of marriage mean if everything is perfect?
Often dreams of marriage have to do with uniting your inner feminine and masculine sides. It is not about death. In order to be balanced, we need to honor both the masculine and feminine.

SBWhat does dreaming of marriage mean if everything is perfect?
There Have Been stories told that the dearly departed can contact us in our sleep, realistically everybody has had a dream where one of our relatives or friends have contacted us. the problem is though at least 95% of us cannot remember these dreams whether they are too powerful for our minds or our memory is not perfected.

Personally I Don't believe that Marriage Means Death, that's a stupid superstition, Marriage For me means a new beginning. but then again people may believe that the deceased show up in your marriage dream to maybe contact you that your new life will begin (afterlife). but there has been no proper evidence of this
Since you have a fiancee' I assume that means you plan to marry him. It is natural to dream that your father attends the wedding. This just means you wish your father was here to share in your joy, and see your daughter grow up, etc.

    God bless you!

    Fairelight
I agree sometimes ur loved ones that passed on will be in your dreams giving u a message
or maybe it was father speaking out to you. letting you that he WILL be there regardless.

What's the shortest marriage you have ever seen someone go through?

Just out of morbid curiosity I guess, I'd like to know what was the shortest lasting marriage you have ever seen in your lifetime? What's the shortest marriage you have ever seen someone go through?
My ex husband has a track record for short marriages. His first wife and he were married for 8 months. He and i were married for a little over 2 yrs. His third marriage lasted 3 months. his fourth marriage lasted perhaps 4 or 5 months. He is on his 5th marriage, but this woman is the best! They've been married for about 3 yrs now. She's really got him turned around and he totally adores her. im so glad he's finally happy, and our 11 y/o son has a stable environment at his dad's house now w/a step-mother that loves him to death.

We aren't ';best friends'; but we stayed friendly for our son, and i knew he was just in a rut and took a while before he grew up. Honestly out of all that mess before #5 i was very surprised that none of his exes ever got pregnant (cept me of course, but that was planned). He does have a 9 mth old son now w/his 5th wife.

for some it takes once, for others it takes many times. What's the shortest marriage you have ever seen someone go through?
Three months. I was in a bar and ran into a guy I went to high school with. I had just heard that he got married a short while ago so I congratulated him. He then told me that she was going out until 4 o'clock in the morning four or five nights a week, refused to stop so they divorced. : (
    About 32 seconds or so.

Right after being proclaimed man and wife, husband was killed by gunshot wound to the head.

Not a very happy after-wedding party after that happened... the cake was good, though.
3 weeks, she beated him up during the honeymoon cause he checked out a girl.Seems like she was like that through out the whole relationship. As soon as they came back he filed for divorce, he just had enough
Two weeks. He found out on the honeymoon that she'd been cheating with his friend for the entire year.

He filed for divorce the day they got back!
Two weeks. When they returned from their honeymoon, there was a message from the brides boyfriend asking why she hasn't called in two weeks. True story.
12 hours. Some friends got drunk in Vegas and thought it was a good idea to get married. Then woke up the next morning and applied for an annulment once they sobered up
That's not the right way of thinking. it should be what is the longest marriage and how did they do it ?
Britney Spears' marraige to Jason Alexander for 52 hours...
6 weeks and she should have never married the bastard
    21 days
    Britney Spears - 52 hours.
Me. 10 days, found out he was cheating and even invited his gf to the wedding. Boy I sure knew how to pick them!
When Brittney Spears married that one guy for a weekend (the guy before K-Fed).
A couple of days after my friend went to iraq. His wife ended up on the wall of shame along with the rest of the cheating wh*res. Of course can anyone blame them. I mean those girls are like 19 to 21 years of age. They are in those college years and are young, dumb, and full of energy and life. They dont want to settle down and get married. They just do because it ';sounds'; nice when they say they are engaged. The strength and temptations that come along with managing a successful marriage only comes when everything else is out of your system, and that comes with age and maturity. Those guys should have known better. I felt bad for my friend when that happened. When your young you think you can handle it, but you have no idea. Im engaged and i find myself fighting every day to keep myself under control from stepping outside the marriage. So many opportunities to do so come along everyday, opportunities that present themselves to me (not me to them). So far Im winning the battle and plan on continuing to, especially since I have a baby girl on the way. Im 26 though so my college, fun, wh*ring days ar over. Even though Im still young and still go out and have fun every now and then. I have the mentality to not let my emotions or ';temporary thoughts and feelings'; for anything or anyone get me into trouble. Which is what most girls fall into when their at a club or party and come across a hot guy or when their drunk, then stuff happens sexually and they come crying to their boyfriend or husband about ';they dont know what happened'; when that B.S. So yeah, thats the shortest marriage.

What do you do with your wedding dress from your first marriage?

I remarried last summer and still have my wedding dress from my first marriage. I have been storing it in my daughters closet for quite sometime now. It's not taking up any room and it's not in the way. My husband says it doesn't bother him but I kind of want it out of the house. What do I do?What do you do with your wedding dress from your first marriage?
One or all of your daughters may want to wear it. If it's not in the way, keep it for them.

My mom thought she couldn't have any children, but kept her dress anyway. 15 years after they were married, I came along. Even if I don't get married, I may want to cut it down, dye it and wear it to my prom.

Keep the dress. What do you do with your wedding dress from your first marriage?
If the dress is clean and in good shape (no tears, no stains), then you could find a consignment shop in your area that handles wedding attire. My youngest daughter and I shopped at a local consignment shop that carries wedding dresses last year in preparation for her wedding.

You could use e-bay or Craigslist to sell the dress. Personally, I prefer the consignment shop, because you don't get the calls and emails at your home.

You could donate the dress to a local charity.
If your daughter wants it, keep it for her. Saves you $ for her wedding. If she's not interested, there are charities you can donate it to - or sell it and put the money in savings, into your daughter's future or?

Men usually say exactly what they think. You might want to check out Men are like Waffles, Women are like Spaghetti. :D

Best of luck - don't let fabric ruin your confidence and the peace in your home.
You can find a store that probably takes used dresses like that and hand it over. I am sure there is someplace out there that will take it because there are plenty of women would be willing to pay for a used dressed....well depending on what it looks like. If not and you don't care about it anymore, just throw it away. If it is bothering you that bad, you won't miss it but I would try to find a store that takes used dresses(if there is such a store out there).
Well what do you do with your wedding dress? PERIOD.

I am on my first marriage and don't quite plan on going for round 2 if things were to fail in round 1. But still, I have my dress and don't know what to do with it.

You could always donate it to goodwill ??
Sell it,Burn it,I would get rid of it one way or another,Some people believe it is bad luck to pass the dress on to your daughter if it was part of a marriage that did not work.In the end it is your choice.
Take it to a charity shop now. Your husband says it doesn't bother him, but of course it does really. Why on earth have you hung onto it for so long?
well really leave the past in the past but since you have your daughter to wear it i assume, ask her if she will even wear it and if yes, storage.
Ask your daughter - maybe she would like to have it for her wedding (assuming that the dress is from your and her father's wedding).
Sell it or have something made out of it. Most people have christening gowns made from theirs...maybe there's another alternative?
I threw mine out in the dumpster last weekend :). I had it for 12 years and it was a size 2. I was sick of being reminded how thin I once was and I'm divorced. Pitch dress!
I burned mine in a celebration bonfire.
You could sell it or give it to someone who needs a wedding dress.
sell it on ebay!! people are always looking for nice dresses and especially because we're in a recession! if its in mint condition itl be nabbed up straight away!! gud luck :D
Send it to your ex to store for his next marriage.
I got married naked so none of this would happen. donate it to charity someone can use it.
    Keep it for your daughter
I would save it for my daughter.
    sell it on craigslist!
I gave mine to Goodwill. It made me feel better...

So u wanna marry ur cousin???What is the law in Indian constitution for marriage with mother's brother's daughter in hindu marriage act?
It's legal. You can do it.

But it can have severe results on the offspring from this marriage.

These babies may be genetically weaker, unhealthy, prone to diseases.

    May have multiple genetic disorders.
One cannot marry his mother's brother's daughter. Such a marriage will be void, hit by the law of PROHIBITED DEGREES.
Legal ,only you have a custom .It is prevelent in South India. Not in North India. It is ok if you are south indian but not if you are north Indian as the relationship comes under prohibited degrees of relationship.

Hindu marriage Act allows this kind of Marriages if there is a custom prevelent in their society.
It is legal in South India.

This is considered as a marriageable relationship.

How much can I expect to pay for each session of marriage counseling?

I know this is hard to come up with- but how much have some people paid? What's normal, etc?How much can I expect to pay for each session of marriage counseling?
    Hi Lauren,

Professional relationship counseling, with a licensed marriage and family therapist can cost a minimum of about $75 and some are $160 an hour and more.

Therapists working on their licenses, who are educated and well trained can cost between $60-$80. These are called resident counselors.

If, like most people, you are a little strapped for cash, you can also possibly go to graduate schools in your area. Look up a master's level or graduate school in your town, call them, ask if they have a counseling department, and ask what is involved. Sometimes they are free or at least at a reduced cost. Often times you can go to many churches and take relationship classes for free. Some of the larger churches might have free counseling, but they may be a little hard to find. Call the larger ones. They most likely will have no problem if you do not subscribe to all of their beliefs.

Finally, you can also do relationship counseling via the internet and phone. There are many who offer online premarital inventories/assessments and then a phone consultation with your partner and you. These can start at $20 and go up to $100 and $200 or so. See source below...

Good luckHow much can I expect to pay for each session of marriage counseling?
If you have insurance your copay 10-50 dollars a session if not $75 to 150 a session.
If you are smart then you will not pay anything....Worthless......

How does engagement and marriage effect a defacto visa?

My partner and i are already on a defacto visa in the uk. im australian and he is from the uk. we are planning on moving back to australia permanently and will be applying for his defacto visa to do this. at this stage in our relationship, we are not ready for marriage, but we are wondering what the rules are if whilst he is on the defacto visa in australia we decided to get engaged and married. how would this affect us?? thanks for any help. How does engagement and marriage effect a defacto visa?
If he comes to Australia on a de facto visa, and you get married, it will not affect anything because there is actually no such thing as a specific facto visa. You apply for and are granted a spouse visa (sub class 309/100) and it just happens that both married and unmarried partners are eligible to apply if the de facto partners have lived together for 12 months or more. If you get married, it only strengthens your claims to having a 'genuine and continuing' relationship. You have nothing to worry about.

What type of medical tests do doctors do in preparation for marriage?

Getting married in Aug. of this year and wasn't sure what type of visit I need to ask for when I go to the doctors. I've noticed it is suggested in wedding planner books to go as a couple too? Other than getting put on birth control...what else would you go for? Blood tests? Is it a requirement to go in order to get a marriage license? What type of medical tests do doctors do in preparation for marriage?
Most, if not all, state no longer require any sort of medical check to obtain a marriage license. Your local clerk of courts will explain any requirements to you when you go to obtain your license. What type of medical tests do doctors do in preparation for marriage?
Most jurisdictions do require blood tests in order to grant a marriage license.

You might also discuss any illnesses thar are ';in the families';. Some of these might have a genetic link, and in that case, as a couple, you might want to consider genetic counselling before trying to conceive.
You have to check on the requirements for the state you are getting married in. Not all places require blood work. And birth control is NOT a requirement to get married.
    not sure
I just got married last month...the blood test varies from state-to-state. check with the courthouse in your county and see what they require and how long its good for. In MS, it was required and We got our blood test a couple weeks before the wedding and about 5 months before I went to the gyno and got put on birthcontrol. I figured I should go sooner so It would have plenty of time to get in my system and if I had problems with it I would still have time to get on another kind before it was 2 late. beyond that nothing else is really required, and the birth control isn't a legal requirement or anything, I just was darn sure gettin on it, we dont need kids for a couple years!
It would probably be a general check up. If its a blood test they might either be testing for serious illnesses or to make sure you are not related to your future husband... I know of a couple that had a complet STI test before getting married. Just to make sure nobody had anything
they want to make sure you are not brother and sister or too closely related, that is imbreeding and it is not legal
usually it is for blood tests, not sure if there are any states left that require this testing anymore, all of them used to. The blood test determines compatibility of blood types in the event of children, now of course there are medications expectant mothers get so that is no longer an issue.

How does legalizing Gay Marriage pose a threat to religious liberties? What are the principal concerns?

How do supporters of same-sex marriage respond? How does legalizing Gay Marriage pose a threat to religious liberties? What are the principal concerns?
    It doesn't.

';The civil rights of none shall be abridged on account of religious belief or worship, nor shall any national religion be established, nor shall the full and equal rights of conscience be in any manner, or on any pretence, infringed.'' - James Madison (Original wording of the First Amendment; Annals of Congress 434 (June 8, 1789).)

It is this overwhelming seriousness about religion that seems to be one of the hallmarks of the fundamentalist. He is concerned not only with his own conformity to doctrine, but the conformity of the rest of society to it, too. Many fundamentalists will not hesitate to intervene in the political process to ensure that society is forced to conform to the behaviors their world view requires, if not accept that world view. The belief that they are right, without any question, justifies, in their own minds, taking upon themselves the right to impose their point of view, by force if neccessary. How does legalizing Gay Marriage pose a threat to religious liberties? What are the principal concerns?
People who say that it will threaten religious liberties are implying that their place of worship may be forced to perform same-sex marriages, regardless of whether they approve of it or not.

The problem with this is that not only is that direct violation of the separation of church and state, but not a single bill allowing gay marriage that has been proposed or passed has in any way actually forced places of worship to do this.

In essence: their argument is one heaping plate of fail.
Because that means gay couples would be able to do things like (GASP!) ... file a joint 1040 tax form in April! It would be anarchy, I tell ya, pure anarchy!

Seriously though, I don't understand where Christians get this delusion that their religion gets to define legal marriage status. Are these people really oblivious to the fact that there are already millions of married non-Christian couples in the country? A church is hardly the only place where you can hold a legally-binding wedding. Heck you can get married in Las Vegas in a drive-thru, or by an Elvis impersonator. So much for the ';sanctity';.

Nor do I understand the ';call it something else';. Would a ';marriage'; and ';union'; legally be the same exact thing as far as federal and state rights/laws go? If so, then why should the government use two different terms for the same exact thing? If they're not equal, then it's discriminatory.
NOT legalizing it poses a threat to religious and civil liberties

EDIT* Correction, not legalizing it or making it against thelaw where it was once allowed ( California) certainly poses more than a threat to civil liberties, it negates them for a specific group.
Its nonsense to say a gay marriage in a household miles away somehow degrades the sacredness of your straight marriage.

Linda: They don't want to force your church to do it, they just want the government to recognize it.
I don't understand what's wrong with it, just because a person is gay dont' make them bad people. their is probably more good gay people out in the world than heteros so wats the problem as long as a person has good morals and values and treat people with respect it's okay, and supposedly god is suppose to love us all anyway.
It isn't a threat to America as a whole. It only threatens the minds of the overly religious.
No threats, just bigotry. Remember we used to have interracial marriages banned because of the ';sanctity of marriage'; crap.
it does nothing to religious liberty.

    it's mere dogma.
It basicly walks over gods laws of marriage.
i find it totally ok for gays to get married what they do behind closed doors does not bother me at all so i dont care and plus im american and believe in freedom not a stupid conservative commi
It is no threat, its just bigotry.
    It doesn't. The end.
Please, be understanding of my response. No hate is invoked at all.

    1. It is forbidden in our texts (duh). I for one think that divorce and adultery should also be forbidden. There's much more to my explanation, but we can save that for another day.

    2. Historically the nations that allowed homosexual unions (not marriages per se) either allowed sexual relations with children at the time, or did later on. While we know presently that pedophilia is immoral, who knows if that will change? There are a large amount of people who are actually pushing for legalization of pedophilia. They're point? That it's violating a child's liberties if they want to have sex with an adult. Even Wikipedia's article about homosexual marriage lists pedophilia unions alongside the homosexual unions.

    3. I notice that there is some ignorance with the issue on both ends. The Bible doesn't specifically state that gays are evil or sinful. But it does paint a picture of how societies are corrupt and evil when homosexuality becomes quite popular. Another indicator is high divorce rates, adulterous societies, and murderous societies. Read the examples in the books of Judges sometimes. So in other words, it's not gays who are the problem. It's the downfall of society that's the issue. Homosexuality isn't a cause of evil, it's the result of a corrupted society (according to the Bible). So basically when the homosexual marriage issue comes up, Christians should actually be looking at how they can improve themselves and their communities, not focus all of their time stopping gay marriages.

There isn't much of a threat to our religious liberties. But the above points are of concern. Outside of R%26amp;S I have had a decent amount of gay friends. They don't agree with me usually, but they get along with me just fine. They all know that I would show up at their weddings too.
I don't care if they marry. If gay marriage becomes legalize and that is so totally against God's law; then we should all rejoice. The more signs of times come into fruition; the closer we get to the Apocalypse. But I am sorry for the gays (the bible mentions them as *self abusers*), because nobody wants another fellow human to end up in the Abyss where there are eternal flames.
Marriage was established form a statement from God that ';the two shall be one flesh' in Genesis regarding a man and a woman

Marraige is a mere hint of something greater and more permanent in heaven. It is a earthly and temporary parable of permanence of the ultimate marriage between Jesus and the bride of Jesus which is the church. The hint which God gave which points to the fulfillment in heaven is His design and should not be messed with.

Now if you want to talk about domestic partnership thats a different issue and I would recommend those not even be limited to sexual relationships as many close relationships such as between two sisters living together for decades warrent being recognized as family. Setting aside an object lesson of God for a preference of man is a threat to ones eternal salvation.
By allowing this to go forward, we are just digging a deeper hole for our nation to attempt to crawl out of. Which, since God is allowing us to dig our own hole, don't think it will stop. We, as a nation, have broken covenant with God, which means until we repent, and turn back, there will be NO economic recovery, no matter how much money they throw at it.Don't think so? Read your Bible, Jeremiah 11:1-11; tells us where this immoral nation is heading. That, is why Christians are against the gay agenda. They will destroy this nation, from the inside out! God will allow our enemies to take us over, I do believe both Russia, and China kill homosexuals. God will let our enemies clean our own house, but there will be a very heavy price to bear through out this all. Too bad the gays won't receive the help that is available from England, where, for over 20 years they have been ';curing'; homosexuals , who want to be set free. Hmmm!!
MAARRIIIAAAGGGEE CAMMMME FROM RELIGION! THATS WHY WE DON WANT GAY PEOPLE TO MARRY. CALL IT A UNION. BESIDES ITS UNNATURAL
    Romans 1:18-32. %26lt;')))%26gt;%26lt;
it diminishes the christian view of marriage...
It would change peoples perspective and would slowly start spreding?
Why does the gay community want to force the church to marry them?
It is against my holy word.

When applying for a Marriage License at the City Clerk does the Rings have to be present?

Also do you have to dress up as if it is the ceremony or you can just go in regular clothing?

They say that the License is valid for 60 days, does this mean you have 60 days to have the ceremony done? Or does the ceremony have to be done right after you get the license?

My fiance and I plan on going to apply for our Marriage License tomorrow but we want to wait for the ceremony. Is that possible? When applying for a Marriage License at the City Clerk does the Rings have to be present?
The way you dress and the rings have nothing to do with the civil license required to marry.

The civil requirement of having a marriage license only underscores the governments meddling in the coupling of two individuals, an interference the government should not make. When applying for a Marriage License at the City Clerk does the Rings have to be present?
When you go to get the license you bring proof of identification. If either of you has been married before you bring proof that you are divorced. Some states, like Florida, have a pamphlet they want you to read about getting married. It's no big deal and it helps kill time while waiting. The license is good for 60 days meaning if for some reason you don't get married in that amount of time you need to get a new license. You may want to wait until you have a firm date for the marriage before getting the license.
You only apply for the license to marry, you're not going there to actually GET married at that moment in time. No, you don't need to dress up like you're going to a wedding, nor do you need your rings. You go to the city hall to apply for your license within 60 days of your wedding date.

Like someone already asked, how old are you?
You don't need to get dressed up or bring rings to get a marriage license. You have 60 days from the date that the license is issued to use it and have the ceremony.
no...when you go get the license your not actually getting married...later on when you go to the courthouse or the church..whatever kind of wedding your having, thats when the rings are present and obviously dressing up is optional..its your day

if its valid for 60 days obviously that means you have 60 days from that day to get married

    how old are you????
No. You can go in regular clothes if you wish.

In Reno they even have a drive thru chapel at Chapel of the bells.

  • How many times has marriage been redefined in American history?

    Or even in European history.

When could people of opposite races begin marrying each other?

Polygamy, gay marriage, etc...How many times has marriage been redefined in American history?
It depends what you mean by 'redefined'.

In Western culture, until very recently, marriage has been the permanent or at least long-term and stable union of one man and one woman. This was of course a norm in the ancient Mediterranean and more recently a Judaeo-Christian one. not accepted by some other cultures.

Within this general pattern, marriage, and the roles within it, have of course constantly changed over the centuries. This could be called 'redefinition' - for instance when the norm of both partners working, though at different tasks, around the farm or holding gave way to the later pattern of a workinghusband and a stay-at-home wife and then to the modern pattern where increasingly both partners have paid employment outside the home. Other adjustments are also constantly occurring: for instance, marriages are now made and maintained for ';love'; - i.e. for sex and affection - not as often, in earlier centuries, for financial or political gain.

More radical redefinitions are now proposed, and here and there law and custom has actually changed. In the Western world, some Islamic groups apart, marriages involving multiple partners have never been, and are not accepted. Same-sex marriage is the flavour of the month, and many countries have accepted it or smething similar. There has never been a general bar on interracial marriage, though some American states tried this rule for a while. Marriages where the partners have different religions have often been forbidden by religious groups, but it is rare to find a formal legal prohibition, and indeed it would be hard to police such a ban. The increasing acceptance of such marriages also involves a redefinition - namely, the gradual elimination of the religious component in marriage as generally conceived.

Perhaps the greatest redefinition is in the duration of marriage. 100 years ago, marriage was seen as being for the lifetime of the couple. Exceptions were rare. Now, divorce is easy, and marriage is seen as lasting just until one of the partners has a change of heart.

Hope this helps. How many times has marriage been redefined in American history?
Marriage has always been dictacted as between a man and a woman, because the world has been mainly christian over the centuries and that's what the bible says. Polygamy still falls under the category of man and woman, just man and woman and woman and woman, etc.
Polygamy stopped being allowed when Jesus Christ became an influence in the world. Gay marriage started around the 20th century. I think interracial marriages started sometime after WW2.

    I don't know what's next.

even after divorce she is still liable to the GOV under the affidavit of support she filed ...How can I remove the condition on permanent residence when my marriage has failed?
Your divorce would need to be final before you could file a waiver to remove the joint filing requirement.

You would need to prove that your marriage was entered to in good faith and broke down naturally. Provide much the same evidence as you gave the USCIS in the first place along with affidavits from friends and family (and your wife if she's willing to help) to attest to the fact that the marriage, while it lasted, was genuine.

If you are the third person, it is not about love. Eventually, two of the three will find solace in each other. You have to ask yourself where does that leave me? If you are secure within yourself and see this set up as an adventure with benefits, go for it. If you are that secure within yourself, then it is best to leave this type to the professionals.
everyone is different, but i know women that date men in relationship (not married though) and they feel like they aren't doing anything wrong because THEY are not the ones in a committed relationship. they feel good knowing (FEELING) that they are the 'chose one' or something. like that tempt a man to cheat. (please, dont take much to tempt a cheating man to cheat).

now, they are those that actually love their married man. and i think they feel helpness, like they're too weak to leave the man and the feed off of his lies and ';promises'; of leaving his wife.

i dont think they feel like a whore or used because if they did, they would probably leave or something. i think they are confused and feel loved (for those that love their married man), but make exucses for their men as to why they cant leave their wife yet. and for the other type that i mentioned before, they just dont care.
all you people must be talking about highschool love or some garbage.

lets come to the real world for a minute.

I was married for 12 freaking years and never cheated. Yet the witch

always accused me of it. She was a witch to me for NO REASON.

This cause me a nervous breakdown and I had to go for mental help.

None of this would have happened if I would have found someone else

during that time who cared about me, like every person needs.

But I knew no one, because i felt that the only woman I should talk to was my wife.

I'll never be in that situation again --- if my wife starts giving me an unreasonable hell, because of her mental hangups and refuses to get help because she thinks nothing is wrong with her.....I'm going to find someone else, even though I can't leave her on the spot because of the kids. F the absolute loyalty until it destroys you attitude!!
lol a sense of pride? wtf does that mean. Damn what is with people and their cheating! There are plenty of people that are single and hor*y go find one of them.

The most retarded thing ever is when poeple cheat with someone and think they are going to be with them. Umm newsflash they're a cheater what do you think will happen to you next when you become just another POA.
I was that 3rd guy when I was just 19 yrs old. I apologize to the husband of the woman, but the husband said ';no biggie';, ';I am totally cool with that';. They were in desparate need for money. It was in a 3rd world country. I absolutely had no idea, that this particular woman was married.
It's not pride or guilt - if you know of the situation, you are just in it for the fun and the sex. That's all it will ever be. If you can accept that it's fine.
i never knew she exist and it hurts me a lot. i always thinking if i will faced the same situation later. i still can't get over it. i love him n i don't want to break up. so, i still let it be n let it be..
I'd feel like a slut and would deeply regret having a part in hurting the person who is being betrayed.

Hey... wow! Yahoo censors words now. I wrote in s-l-u-t and after publishing it came out **** That's cool!
I would never let myself become the third person. You know he's only using you for sex and to give himself an ego-boost. You would mean nothing to him besides a booty call.
Judging by what I see here, women who are mistresses feel indignant that they are looked down upon and hopeful that the lies he tells her (I will leave my wife for you) are true. It's pathetic.
    pride- nope

    guilt- hell yeah

    lust- maybe a bit

    insecurity- alot of that

mostly scared.. i reckon her husband would probably beat the sh*t out of me and with good reason too
If he's staying with his wife, it certainly isn't love. At least not on his part. If you're mistaking it for great love there;s more wrong with you than just your incredibly low self-esteem.
i would feel like a whore

i would feel used....if he really loved me then he wouldnt stay married

i would feel like a b*tch for taking her man

    i would feel horrible
It's actually one of my fantasies to have sex with a married couple.
A THIRD PERSON WILL FEEL LIKE A THIRD UNWANTED WHEEL..NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY..
It should ONLY be about LOVE.

    No matter what.

If anything else go get ya'self a crack whore.
I don't touch married meat and maybe you should to. Don't do to others........................
I wouldn't put myself in that position because I am not a whore.
a whore....a 2nd choice when the wife refuse to have sex with the man you're madly in love...
    I don't know..like crap?

How is it that the Republican party is for making gay marriage illegal?

Im just wondering. Since the republicans support less governmental involvement. But isnt that a bit intrusive for the government to be passing laws on what people can do in their personal lives? Wouldnt that be more government involvment than the democrats?

Its not like they are telling the churches they have to, all they are doing is giving the country the option to choose so.How is it that the Republican party is for making gay marriage illegal?
You bring up a great question that highlights Republican ideals and values versus how public policy development plays out among Republicans.

The ';smaller government'; that you refer to for Republicans has almost always had to do more so with very little or no regulation of the general economy, big business, and fiscal spending.

The idea of smaller or less government with Republicans has a line and that line is traditionally drawn at getting involved with people's personal lives: gay marriage, opposing a woman's right to choose, Terri Schiavo, etc.

Republicans tend to be more states' rights oriented and some of them will at times be AGAINST making gay marriage illegal on a federal level arguing that marriage is a state's rights issue. (But at the end of the day, they will still promote anti-gay marriage policies in their state.)

All in all the irony indicated in your original question hints at the answer. The answer is that, yes, Republicans ARE contradicting themselves on their views and ideals. Plain and simple. How is it that the Republican party is for making gay marriage illegal?
I agree. The problem is not same sex marriage. The problem is the government involvement in the marriage business at all. Marriage should be left as an institution of faith. If a faith wants to marry two men or two women together that is their prerogative and is between them and their god not the government.

I don't see why people stomach the government control of marriage anyways. The marriage license was invented in the Jim Crow era to prevent black men from marrying white women. The government expanded it because they found it made tax collection more expedient and repressive to the married couple.

The governments role is to protect contracts not to be creator of them.
I don't know but I could care less. We have other more important issues to deal with like health care. And if gays really wanted to have the same rights as married couples, they could have called it civil unions by law, named it anything they wanted amongst their friends and family, and call it a day. They would have had their civil unions by now, with the same rights as married couples. Sometimes being stubborn like that ruins everything.
It's not a Federal issue.....whatever is not granted by the Constitution to the Federal Govt, is to be a State's issue.

Obama doesn't believe in gay marriage.
Their libertarian talk is just that, talk. They're really about moralism, which implies authoritarianism. Ironic since the GOP is chock-a-block with homosexuals, but just the deeply-closeted, self-hating kind trying to be ultra-orthodox in every other way.
Liberals seek to RE-DEFINE the definition of what marriage has always been throughout history: a union between a man and a woman.
Actually it requires laws to force it to be legal. More laws = more government. You fail even in this..
Same as pro-life movement. No government control unless it suites their best interests.
    Because they're homophobic.
    I agree on that one.

And also the pro-life thing. Stupid and dehumanizing.

How do we get marriage paperwork processed before getting to our Army Duty Station, We don't have a base close?

My Fiancee and i are getting married and he wants to have our paper work processed before he has to report to his next duty station. He is going to be home for 10 days and wants to have everything in and taken care of before he has to report. what do we do to get all of this taken care of? Where do we go to get our paperwork processed? Is there someone that we can contact and find this Information out? We don't have any military bases ANYWHERE near us.How do we get marriage paperwork processed before getting to our Army Duty Station, We don't have a base close?
He needs to ';check in'; early and get it taken care of at his gaining command/duty station. Or check in as required and take care of it then.... but he does need to do it at his gaining command! How do we get marriage paperwork processed before getting to our Army Duty Station, We don't have a base close?
He needs to take the paperwork along with you to the closest base or Reserve or National Guard Center to you. If it isn't possible then you will have to wait until he reports into his next base and goes to the Personnel Office. If the later happens then he will also need a copy of your birth certificate and SSN card with him. Once your information is entered into DEERS you are considered a dependent.
Like a few others have said... when you inprocess. Don't worry about it. Once the two of you (or him) inprocess at the gaining assignment, he'll provide the required documents and be all set. Good news, you'll receive back pay to the date of your marriage ie... extra $'s. Just to avoid any confusion; if he is going overseas before you, make sure he has a lease agreement of some sort or a notorized letter showing your where'abouts with that zip code along with the marriage certificate.
They will take care of that when he Reports to his new Duty Station it's never wise to try to deal with someone that you will never see again if they lose something or just put it off for a while besides a copy of your Marriage certificate has to go into His file they will take care of all of this during his in processing
He will have to sign in to his gaining unit to process the paperwork.

Good luck on the upcoming marriage

You will find that being an Army wife will be hard.
it won't get taken care of until he reports to his next duty station. only THEY can amend his orders to include you on them.
    any courthouse
You can get a marriage licence at the court house, and you can get married and get a copy of the marriage certificate whereever you want. But I assume you are talking about the dependents form for the army, and housing or allowance for housing. In that case, you need a mariage certificate, and you may need other documents too. The only way I know to do that is to have him take care of it when he inprocesses either at at his new unit's S1, at his new post, or when he out-processes at his old unit's S1 (unless of course his old unit is basic training or a school). Even if you can get it done some other way, it will probably take the same ammount of time.

The good news is that even if you don't have the dependents form filled out and approved, you will be allowed to get that taken care of and put in for familty housing almost as soon as you get there, and you will be able to stay in temporary family lodging in the meantime. He will not be required to move into the barracks as long as he has a marriage certificate and fills out the dependent's form.

The bad news is that because you were not married and had not filled out the dependent's form before he got orders to go to his new post, his orders do not allow him to move any additional houshold items, besides the very limited ammount of personal stuff a single soldier is permitted to move to a new duty station. In other words, get rid of everything and travel light!

Is a pre-immigration marriage between two resident aliens who live in the US considered valid in California?

    Ok, here's the situation.

-A husband and wife were married in Venezuela at the ages of 20 and 21 before they came to the US, specifically California.

-Both are resident aliens legally residing in Northern California with all the proper documentation.

-After 25 years of marriage, they have begun to seriously consider divorce.

-Both have substantial assets, including a home. They have 3 children together, all born in this country. They have all the accouterments of normal US citizens minus the citizenship.

Do California marriage laws still apply to them if they wanted to legally seperate considering they aren't citizens and were married before they even set foot in this country? Is a pre-immigration marriage between two resident aliens who live in the US considered valid in California?
The marriage is valid in the US. A separation and divorce would be legal in the US. I believe it's also legal in Venezuala, but you will probably have to have your attorney file the appropriate paperwork there too.

Tell them thank you for obeying the immigration laws of our country. They are definitely the kind of people we want to have here!Is a pre-immigration marriage between two resident aliens who live in the US considered valid in California?
Legally resendtial citizens are entitled to the Laws of the land they live in.
The laws of the court in which they hold the divorce proceedings would apply. Since they both live in Calfiornia, they would have to use a California court, and California law would apply. Where you get married is irrelevant.
American laws apply because they reside in California.

What do you think about interracial relationship - love and dating and marriage?

What do you think about interracial relationship - love and dating and marriage?

What are the advantages and disadvantages in an interracial relationship and marriage? How do different cultures affect parenting and raising a family? How about having in-laws of different culture? What do you think about interracial relationship - love and dating and marriage?
I personally think that inter-racial relationships can be truly beautiful. This is mainly due to being able to embrace the different cultures that exist and have a create a new understanding and perception of life etc..

With that said, it is probably not the race that is the main feature, but the culture. Although this could be a very benefitial thing for you and your partner, it has the potential to raise some problems. For instance, your two cultures may be perhaps quite different and will therfore risk the possibility of clashing and causing un-wanted conflict between the two of you. This of course would entirely depend on the amount of differation between your cultures.

Raising a family would, in my opinion, not be a problem. As long as you remember to pay attention to eachothers' cultures and traditions, your kids will be able to balance themselves between them.

If the difference between the cultures is very dramatic, you need to ask yourself and also your partner how serious you are about being with each other and what you can do to make the relationship work. If you really do love each other, this issue will become less problematique as you will be able to find the passion and dedication to continue your relationsihp and make it work for the best. What do you think about interracial relationship - love and dating and marriage?
Dating is forbidding in Islam for good reasons. Marriage should be to a muslim. It is also permitted for a man to marry a woman of the book(a jew or a christian), though not recommended. Children should be raised as muslims.

If the marriage is halal, then there could be many advantages of interracial marriages. The main one I can think of is that it can help end racism? Create less prejudice?

Culture can also get in the way of religion so if someone is in an interracial marriage, they won't necessarily be so cultural due to conflict between the two? It could also be the opposite. They might be keen on their different cultural views, disagree on many issues, there could be a language barriers so children will probably only learn one language if their are more than two mothertongues between the parents(if that makes sense!), it could be challenging.

Nearly all of my ';cousins'; and young family that are married, married outside of their respective culture. They dont endure any hardships really but because they put religion before everything. Islam comes way before culture. Any cultural traditions that go against Islam are not enforced.
It has the potential to be the most challenging or yet the most rewarding experience. You can learn allot and grow as a couple, introducing each other to various view points and ways of life.Race is not important in marriage but religion surely is.Religion is by far the most important factor in choosing a spouse, since spiritual harmony carries through the entire spectrum of married life, lifestyle, and family values.
i think it shouldn't be treated any differently than marry some one of your own race. its really not a big deal.i think the advantages are that the children(and parents too for that matter) would be exposed to more culutre, you pretty much garunteed to have kids that arn't racist. disadvantages, you might disagree on some ethics, religon type stuff or w/e, but usually you can over come that with a compromise.
I think it's really sweet. I always say ';AW! Look at the interracial couple!'; It's adorable. I think of how 30-40 years ago they couldn't be together. We've come a long way yet we still have a long way to go. I am a lot of different backgrounds. I am Puerto Rican, German, Irish, French, Italian and Mohawk Indian. I am proud of each and every one!
I believe God made many people of many backgrounds and races. He loves all the people and I'm sure he smiles on all marriages. I don't believe people of the same sex should marry for fear of losing their eternal souls. For the best harmony one should try to marry someone of the same race.
Everything works out fine for me... its been 4.5 years and counting :)

we have no kids as im a student but Im sure that wouldnt change and if it did race would not be the issue
i think there shouldnt be dating be4 marrige....

What do you think of the interracial couple being denied a marriage license?

The judge claims that he is thinking of possible children that the couple may have. He says, though, that he has tons of black friends and treats them as equal. What say you? What do you think of the interracial couple being denied a marriage license?
Unfortunately, the Justice may be half right. I've worked with divorced and single fathers for 20 years, and I can say the a marriage between an African/American male and a Caucasian female have a high rate of failure, resulting in the mothers trying to alienate the children from the father. There's a much lower rate with them marrying a Asian woman. For Caucasian males marry an African/American woman, the failure rate of the marriage is much lower than marrying a Caucasian woman. I hate using the term race as we are all a part of the human race.

Now for this couple, if they were both virgins, their chances of a long marriage would be much greater due to their ages. Both were fully mature. Over 85% of divorces involve couples who cohabit or marry prior to age 24. The best age for a male to first develop a relationship, and get married, is when he passes age 30.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\What do you think of the interracial couple being denied a marriage license?
I thought I'd hit a time warp, was back before the 1960's. I don't even know if licenses can be denied for other reasons, too, other than somebody being underage and in most states, same sex marriage.

To somebody who asked, I think it was in Louisiana.

    My question is, do two whites, blacks, or anybody come in, and the authorities say ';You look like you'll abuse your kids, I can't give you a license.'; Or ';You are both scientists. Your kids will be Nerds. We can't do that to the kids.';

I mean where does this stop.
    1) His actions are illegal since as a JOP he is an officer of the government as his actions invade privacy and are discriminitory

    2) His actions are immoral and as such he should be stoned until he is unconscious then when he wakes up punched in the face

    3) He himself is a complete idiot who should be fired since no marriage law on eligibility or oath mentions children so he abused the power of his office in an area he has no legal authority on...by that I mean his office has nothing to do with children and/or reproduction and so he needs to just be quiet on that issue in his official capacity

Stupid crap like this all comes from our opening the bottle on rights by the anti-gay marriage crowd.

They have made a wedge issue creating a legal grey area where some people think it is ok for their own personal codes of ethics to trump law, decency and adults' rights to choose for themselves.

C Y %26gt; if he was a priest or clergy member whose church refused that woudl be fine......but since you are not aware in this modern era we have anti-discrimination laws, equality laws, and SCOTUS determined decades ago a BASIC CIVIL RIGHT TO MARRIAGE and so a govt official does NOT in any way imaginable have the right and/or authority to exercise their own personal will in who can obtain basic civil rights and who cannot.

Also heads up the Roman empire is gone, fire was discovered, and the wheel was a big hit....just an fyi since I have to explain basics here

EL VACHITO ***** %26gt; saying he won't sign but someone else can is like a school teacher saying ';Oh a black kid can get an education..just not from me';...and it is not valid. By basic American law if you are a governmental official then your must abide by governmental rules+codes of conduct and you rpersonal opinions *must* remain seperate...it is the very same thing that allows a govt official to be say a devote muslim...they can have their freedom of religion but by law it must remain seperate and outside of any situation that involves their activities **as a representative of the US govt**
The silver lining to this cloud is that we still live in a country where we can stand up for our beliefs, and not be forced to write a marriage certificate against our will in the name of political correctness. Was it wrong-yeah it was. So what. Get over it, and find someone whose not a dinosaur to marry you so you can live happily ever after. Furthermore, why would you even want a guy who doesn't agree with your beliefs to marry you in the first place.
I wonder if if would have made a difference to him if the man was white and the woman was black. Or if it were a Asian and Hispanic couple.

It's been a long time since we have heard this variation of ';Separate but equal'; argument. He needs to check his US Supreme Court precedent.

Then again, being the devil's advocate, his point was that he (personally) is just not signing the license. He did not say that the couple can't get signature from somebody else.
F**ing racist *** Louisiana. That is total BS. The judge shouldn't have the authority to approve or disprove marriages. Man, that's like me saying I won't let the judge get married, because I want to protect his future wife from the nauseating and traumatizing experience of having sex with his ugly ***.
White Southern Liberal Democrat....Butt Weight, those are the same people who began a group called ';Night Riders'; and who began the little social club called ';The KKK';....

SO by looking at the history of the groups involved and the people who presently belong to those groups it can be safely said that the DNC is behind this decision....and the President couldn't be happier....

I see at least 3 people who don't know their US History...The SOUTHERN White Liberal Democrats attempted to keep the People of Color from getting voting rights in the 1860-90's...Now they are THE party of Color....Can't disagree with History...Just because you don't like the outcome...
    NOTE: Sarcasm forth coming:

Obviously the judge is right! (NOT!) I mean look at what those of a multi-ethnic background turn into...

    Derek Jeter,

    Mariah Carey,

    Tiger Woods,

and the list goes on and on into infinity.

I guess the judge really knows his (um) stuff?
well his actions that he enacted may have illegal but certainly just because one is against interracial marriages doesn't mean they are racists as I am one who is against the same preposition but I have many friends from different ethnicities (white, black, brown, yellow, red, etc).
    shows how much history

is still with us which many

    want us to deny
I happen to agree with the judge. Its unfair to the children who would have to live with being called half casts. Have anyone seen a blackbird mate with a dove.? At least animals and birds know whats right and whats wrong
    Ridiculous...

I would ask the judge, whom I believe is disingenuous about his reasons, how racial progress can be made with this type of policy.
Its the 21st century and his views are still stuck in the 60s. All racists justify thier racist thinking with the line I have plenty of black friends.
He has no right to decide whether or not skin color affects these people's ability to be good parents and should not be a judge.
    Unbelievable.
I think it was wrong. Color should be no boundary for love and marriage.
What kind of a judge would still have a job after that? Were did this take place ?
I say GOOD! It's about time they put a stop to that kind of disgusting behavior!
Okay, I think that's just wrong.
I think it's stupid. You love who you love, color doesn't matter.
    where is this occurring?
I happen to agree with the judge pertaining to this matter. There's absolutely nothing wrong with socializing with another race(in fact, none at all) however natural balances are being interfered with through copulation between two people of separate races. Also makes those that preach natural law over rule of law hypocrites through their own actions.

  • How often does a marriage devolve into a child/parent relationship?

I see this a lot with married people, where one person will be the authority figure and the other takes on the role of the helpless child. Why do you think this happens? Is it just laziness, do most people want to be taken care of? Must a relationship include at least one care giver? How often does a marriage devolve into a child/parent relationship?
It happens when ever a bossy person marries a wimpy person. This is a VERY common combination.

Like I always say, there is no such thing as a 50/50 relationship. One person always has more leverage. Its not because they want to be in charge.. its just how things naturally go. You can't have a harmonious relationship with two leaders and no followers or two followers and no leaders. Everyone can't be the CEO. Everyone can't be the worker. It just doesn't make sense.

EDIT: What ';Got it'; says also makes sense. You can switch back and forth from each role. But you both can't be the same role at the same time. How often does a marriage devolve into a child/parent relationship?
Opposites attract, plus I think in any relationship there is always one who is more dominant and one who is less so. it can be quite balanced, but obviously if it's getting to extremes, it's not going to be great for either of them - if the 'boss' is running themself ragged trying to organise everything or the 'child' feels constantly put down by their partner. I think if you have a very cool, independent person in a relationship, you do need the other person to be the care giver, to glue the relationship together, and if one person is less organised, they might need someone more together to make sure domestic things run smoothly (bills etc) but I guess it depends on the needs of the individual couples :-)
Ummm... I think that this can happen periodically through out a marriage. It isn't necessarily a permanent situation. For example, if one spouse is ill, the other would of course take the role of the care taker. If one spouse is totally out of line regarding something, the other would stand up and take control of the situation. If one spouse is going through a period of rebellion or misbehavior, then the other might go behind them to conduct damage control. Sometimes one spouse will need to be stood up for by the other. If you truly love your spouse you would want to take care of them no matter what the circumstance. I donut think it is a child/ parent relationship, sometimes on needs to be cared for. Sometimes life is good and no one needs any special attention. Marriage is a long journey and the dynamics change as the years go by, hopefully for the better. There are time where I have had to take care of my husband and times when he has had to take care of me, for many different reasons.
Ideally, both should do some caregiving of the other person. This only works if it's a gift freely given, however. Sometimes, a really dysfunctional arrangement works out where one person is ';sick'; all the time, or ';delicate'; or ';helpless';. This is not a good arrangement, never mind a good example for the real chilldren in the house!

I tend to see this more lately where the guy is assumed to be helpless, so the wife bosses him around. I did know a family as a kid where the wife had childhood cancer, and everyone sort of tiptoed around her even as an adult. What a curse.
Happens a lot. Infact, more often than we even realize. We realized early on that neither of us could be the know-it-all in all the fields of existence. I let her take up the lead in certain issues, and she let's me take up the lead in others. It happens so unconsciously that we don't even have to think twice about it. One reason could be lazyness, but it won't help in the long run. Trust, convenience, timing are just a few other reasons. A relationship with only one care giver drains the care giver. Taking turns or dividing labor works for the betterment of the relationship over a period of time.
At my old job we did a lot of things on personalities and I think what it comes down to is what kind of person you are and what kind of person they are.

I'm the type where things are my way or the highway, since there are other people like that it's harder for us to get along so i end up in relationships that are with fellows who don't mind letting me lead.

Sometimes though if you aren't aware of this and neither is your partner, it can degress into something like a child/parent relationship because instead of talking it out you just assume the other knows what they are doing to you, or that they might assume that they know you just don't want to take charge so its up to them.

It comes to communication and recognizing yourself for who you are.
Hmmm, that's an interesting question. I have honestly never seen this except in the case where one partner becomes ill and the other becomes the caregiver, or when older men marry much younger ';trophy'; wives. It's not the case in my own marriage.

I guess that it's probably a different reason, including those you have given, in each case.
Uusally it happens because one is the mature one and the other is not as mature. The mature one ends up becoming the parent to the immature one.

Goes the same with responsibility....the responsible pne takes on all the burden and becomes more like the parent.
Interesting observation i have seen it also and am not sure what to make of the dynamic in terms of a generalisation. I think it's even more unfortunate when you see children taking on the role of parent i knoww that this can be ver damaging.
Because opposites attract. There are times in a person's life well having someone to care for them or answer the questions and yes even make all the decisions is welcomed. And who better to rely on then your best Friend , your spouse.
no they mustn't include one care giver, just some people are more naturally one or the other and since opposites attract....
Some people naturally swing to the roles of Dominate and submissive.
it happens because most people are complete retards.
    To often!
I've only witnessed this in old people. Maybe they're just tired.
