How does gay marriage effect straight marriage in any way?

I am looking for answers from people who actually think gay marriage does this but anyone can respond. :)

I just don't get how anyone could think that way.How does gay marriage effect straight marriage in any way?
It makes some people feel ';icky'; and feeling ';icky'; effects them. That's about the only way it does. I am not gay and could care less if two guys or two gals are together and love each other. Whatever floats their boats. But when I am around some of my straight friends, the icky factor is very obvious when we talk about homosexuality as they express their discomfort about the entire idea of homosexuality. It is their problem. It is their insecurity. It has nothing to do with gays. They just make it about the gays in the hopes of ending their own problem with it. The same insecurity about other things has been tried on other topics with disastrous results such as paganism, perceived witchcraft, religious clashes, inter racial marriage, abortion, stem cell research, and atheism.

If a man can marry a woman in Vegas that he just met and get a divorce a week later, why can't two men who have been together for 20+ years get married? I always ask the naysayers that and they never can give a good answer. How does gay marriage effect straight marriage in any way?
1. It reduces religion's monopoly on how marriage is defined in society.

2. Creates a broader base of married couples, which creates a more stable economy and family support structure.

3. Creates more potential couples that can adopt more products of the ';pro-life'; movement.

4. Decrease health care costs because couples tend to live longer and healthier than singles, and are more able to take care of themselves rather than rely on institutions.

5. Increase the value of neighborhoods. Though it is a stereotype, gays statistically do tend to keep up their homes and raise property values.

6. Decrease health care, insurance, and other costs because of a broader based of married couples to participate in such plans.

7. Decrease sexually risky behavior, since married couples tend to have much fewer partners, frequently being totally dedicated to each other.

8. Generally reduces homophobia, which also has a dampening effect on other forms of bigotry.

9. Creates more happier people, which affects general morale.

10. Strengthens our country's commitment to human rights.
Some ways that it definately affects others is by Social Security, Pensions and Health care, especially Legacy costs. Follow the money %26amp; you will almost always get an answer.

Money is universal and feelings can't argue with math.

The costs would become even more unsustainable than they already are, and you open a big file for fraud.

For example, if 2 unmarried women decide to get married, then when the one dies, the other would recieve Social Security benefits.

In theory, I believe in gay marriage.

In practice, I would rather wait until all of the fiscal flaws %26amp; potential fraudulent activity is addressed properly so that when it is allowed, its sacred.
Lets start with the word marriage its between husband and wife meaning male and female so I guess that screws things up . Gay marriages cant have husband and wives unless there role playing which is what they have to do . The oath of marriage do you take this woman as your lawful wife how is that poss-able with 2 gay guys . Do take this man to be lawful husband again a quest with 2 women .

Gays want to force marriage into a church and that's a bunch of garbage . How about confusing children in schools and at home and if allowed to adopt who's mommy and who's daddy .So the effects can get worse with time it will eventually effect marriages and more .
I oppose gay marriage. I also oppose straight marriage, as state mandated. why should married couples have more benefits than single ones? that sounds like discrimination against celibates. the government should only know, for practical purposes, who lives with who.

i have no problem with non-government associations marrying people according to their rules, like churches.
The effect won't be on marriage but society as a whole. So how is gay marriage an equal benefit to society. Is gay marriage needed, if so why? Will gay marriages improve anything? Will there be less broken homes because of gay marriage? Will there be a better home environment. Gay marriage, I believe, mainly benefits that individual couple.
I can't think of any way that gay marriage is supposed to effect straight marriage at all.

So why are people so upset about gay marriage if there's nothing about it that's going to effect straight marriage?

I believe that when it comes to relationships; it's really none of our business. And people should have the right to do what ever they want to do just so long as it doesn't hurt anyone. After all this is supposed to be a free country, right?
Well, obviously it will make all those hardcore Christians who are secretly homosexual yet locked in loveless heterosexual marriages because their church forces them to feel miserable.

Since this apparently describes about 90% of hardcore Christian marriages, it will have a huge impact on their ability to continue to feel self-righteous.

At least, that's only even vaguely plausible explanation I can think of.
It doesn't, and the people who pretend to to think it does are liars.

Hilarious National Organization for Marriage auditions

-These are the audition tapes for the new anti-homosexual advertising campaign.

It shows what liars these guys are.
Well you see the reflection of the sun from two bald guys getting married outside could reflect into the eyes of the pilot and co-pilot causing them to crash the plane on the way to the ';straight couples getaway';

No seriously I have no idea.
It doesn't, certain straight couples' marriages are so f*cked up that they need to blame something for their problems, so they blame gay marriage because it's so convenient for them.
I am opposed to gay marriage but I agree that such makes little sense.

My marriage will not be effected due to homosexuals getting married or not getting married.
Even if people were allowed to marry their dog/cat... it still would have absolutely no effect on healthy loving marriages. It's just ignorant bigotry.
Just another thing that they can ';bleep'; about. I doubt religion has any thing to with their views on marriage, they are just raised that way.
Prepare for a lot of ridiculous, right-wing answers, my friend.
It doesn't - and it won't impact on traditional marriages. If people truly do believe in human rights then it has to be for everyone. Regardless of their sexual leanings.
I have no clue how that would effect any marriage except the one the 2 people just entered.
I'm a married heterosexual and gay marriage has absolutely no impact on my marriage.
gay marriage affects straight marriage in much the same way that carbon fibre bicycle frames affect large goldfish
It cheapens the sanctity of drunken weddings performed by skydiving Elvis impersonators in Reno.
Only affects religious ideologies.
No. Absolutely not. And thats why it should be legal.
No, i don't see how it could.
It doesn't.
It doesn't. In any way.
Ask Mel Gibson. Look what Vermont did to him...
It takes the meaning out of it.God made marriage between a man and a women, why would anyone want to get married anyway unless they are trying to do what God says is right.I do think people should be respectful for other people though, but we don't all need to know about their gay choice they should keep it to them selves.
That is not why Christians are against gay marriage. We are against it because homosexuality is a perversion, as God has taught in His word. That absolutely infuriates people....but a Christian believes God's word and will not be moved off of it, no matter what you call us.
Whites already inbreed enough. I suppose homosexuality is a good thing as it stops the reproduction of their kind. As a Christian, I don't believe humans should marry the same sex. But for whites, and Americans in general, I am all for it! Just keep it out of India!
Well, ask Lot of Sodom and Gomorrah, His marriage was straight in a gay town, ask Him if He was inconvenienced by it in any way when He was forced to immediately scurry away leaving everything to run for the hills, he lost his wife about it too.

Bible Scripture: ';If My people, who are called by My Name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek My Face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will heal their land';. 2nd Chronicles 7:14. http://bible.cc/2_chronicles/7-14.htm

has our land been having any trouble lately that could use Gods healing?, now before you answer maybe you should ask President Obama?.
